Tiah - A Team Approach to Epilepsy Care
Written by Patricia - carer of the beautiful lady Tiah
Tiah's seizures began suddenly, cluster seizures, after just one dose of flea and tick medication. I will never forgive myself.
Her vet own vet was amazing and agreed to refer to GUVS straight away. We had lost her son previously, being told nothing more they could do. I didn't know enough back then to question it, and I’ll always carry that. I had to let my 5-year-old boy go. I wasn't going to let that happen twice. I wanted expert care and knowledge and support. For us and Tiah.
We have received the very best care, from not only the clinic, but also via email and calls, to Tiah being admitted to Aberdeen and Glasgow for specialist care on separate occasions. The second time with added complications of having pancreatitis. The team helped so much to ensure we knew what to do to transport Tiah for the 4.5hr journey.
The whole team were amazing and put up with my constant calls and messages. They worked with our own vets, set plans in place for ongoing care and emergency care, so all of us knew exactly what we needed to do. Without our vets, specialists, clinic, emergency care team, I know Tiah would not be here.
I would never want her to suffer, but I just knew that with the right advice and treatment, she could get through it. I am glad none of us gave up and Tiah I still a beautiful, crazy and loving girl. She still runs, enjoys her adventures and being with her whole pack. I cannot thank or ever be grateful enough for the support and care for Tiah and us from everyone involved. I truly wish every pet owner had access to the right support, accurate information, and expert care from the very start. It would save so many. Thank you all for giving Tiah her life and helping us and her enjoy the most amazing times together.
